Saint-Tropez: A nature lover’s paradise

23 Jun 2022 | Art of receiving

The iconic village of Saint-Tropez is nestled in a peninsula teeming with life, a gem of nature on the French Riviera. It combines all kinds of natural landscapes, from mountainous ranges to wide plains and, of course, the sea. It is located in one of the most densely forested regions in France and ranks first when it comes to the number of species of its fauna and flora. The “Massif des Maures”, a mountain range that is part of the wider Saint-Tropez area, surrounds the peninsula. In addition to the wilderness it harbours, there are twenty-six picturesque villages sprinkled all over the hillsides. There are plenty of hike trails of varying difficulty for you to get lost along and take in all the surrounding beauty. At Villas Prestige & Services, we take pride in helping our clients get the full experience of the natural heritage of our beautiful region while staying in our luxury villa rentals. Here are some activities we recommend and that we can organise for you.

Port-Cros National Park

The Port-Cros National Park is one of the two oldest national parks in France. Created in December 1963, it is the first marine park in Europe. The park presents its natural heritage through the fauna, flora and landscapes but also the history and architectural heritage. It offers hiking itineraries, guided tours and plenty of other activities and events. The heart of the national park covers the islands of Port-Cros and Porquerolles, on land and at sea. Port-Cros, a forest island between intimate beaches and steep cliffs. Porquerolles, an inhabited island, generous and sincere like the people who have shaped it… and everywhere the Mediterranean, a sea of myths and history, a crossroads of differences, exchanges and communication. The National Park also covers the island of Levant and has an equally exceptional coastline to discover.

Mountain Biking

Mountain biking is the perfect way to combine physical activity and discovery of nature. There are plenty of trails to choose from. Easy and scenic or sloppy and long, there is a trail for everyone. For those who enjoy biking, but do not want to expend the energy required on rough and tilted terrain, there is the option to rent an electric mountain bike. Although you can easily pick a trail and set off on your adventure, we highly recommend hiring a guide. They will choose the most suitable trail according to your needs and will be happy to share with you their knowledge and passion for the region. You will get the chance to visit some hidden treasures that you might miss if you venture out on your own. We particularly recommend choosing a trail that passes from Cap Taillat, on the south side of the peninsula, which offers breath-taking views and one of the most pristine beaches on the peninsula. VPS works with Blue Bikes to meet all your bike rental needs..

Diving & Snorkelling

The French Riviera also offers exceptional marine and submarine landscapes. Diving down to the seabed or snorkelling around the surface, you will discover the secrets of marine life in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. Among them, the local red coral and all the underwater life it protects is particularly captivating. With plenty of diving spots, from caves and underwater landscapes to shipwrecks and reefs, the sea surrounding the peninsula offers experiences for all tastes and levels. As spots are limited for each class and they are in high demand, it is recommended to book in advance. Our concierge team at VPS will be delighted to organise diving and snorkelling activities for you and your group.

Sailing school and water sports

A summer on the peninsula is the ideal setting for indulging in water sports. Maybe you’re serious about learning the ropes of sailing and are looking for an experienced instructor? Or maybe you’re just looking for casual activities on the water? Whatever the case may be, you will find what you’re looking for in Saint-Tropez. Options include, but are not limited to, stand-up paddle board, windsurf, kitesurf, underwater scooter (Seabob), yachting and many more!

Wine Tours

With over 2.000 years of wine production history and a culture that is intertwined with the vines, the French Riviera is a wine-lover’s paradise. Whether you are a fine-wine connoisseur or an organic wine enthusiast, there is something for every palate. Embark on a private tour and meet the passionate men and women responsible for producing wine that is enjoyed all over the world and who will happily share their knowledge and experience with you. Walk among the vines, visit the wineries and taste the finished product.
